Selectmen approve tax rebates and appoint Christopher LaFrance as building inspector

The Middlebury Board of Selectmen approved a set of tax rebates and formally appointed Christopher LaFrance as the town’s Building Inspector at its Jan. 5 meeting.
First Selectwoman Jennifer A. Mahr moved to approve the listed tax rebates, which included several Enterprise FM Trust entries and an individual rebate for Christopher Adal, Jr.; the motion passed unanimously. Mahr then moved to appoint Christopher LaFrance as Building Inspector for the term Jan. 19, 2026–Jan. 19, 2030, saying LaFrance began working for the town earlier in the summer and recommending him for promotion.
Selectman J. Paul Vance seconded the appointment, noting he would support the promotion contingent on Board of Finance approval of the pay change. The motion to appoint LaFrance passed unanimously.
No resignations were reported at the meeting. The board recorded these items as part of its consent and personnel actions.
