Facilities staff briefed trustees on the district's annual indoor-air-quality (IAQ) procedures under Policy 7230.2 and the state Tools for Schools checklist requirement.
Facilities manager Patrick Bradberry said the 2024 policy requires the district to perform annual IAQ reviews and upload checklists to the state; Milford embeds the Tools for Schools process in school safety meetings and invites teachers and, in some cases, students to participate. The inspection regimen includes building walkthroughs, pest- and waste-management checks, green-cleaning product standards, and guidance on items that compromise IAQ (rugs, cloth furniture, air fresheners). Bradberry said inspections are done in November, the results are uploaded to the state, and a spring teacher survey is used to create work orders for unresolved items.
Bradberry described the maintenance program: preventive maintenance cycles for HVAC and boilers, mechanics who use mobile devices to track service, and a four-week timeline to complete inspections and corrections. The checklists and supporting documentation are available on the district website under Facilities > District Operations.
What happens next: Facilities will continue the Tools for Schools schedule, share checklist results publicly via the website, route teacher-submitted survey items into the work-order system, and use the process to support grant eligibility for HVAC projects.
