Sanford to seek bids for $4.3 million tile drain project funded by MEDC-CDBG-DR

Village President Dolores Porte told the council on Oct. 14 that Sanford will begin the procurement process for a MEDC-CDBG-DR Sanford Tile Drain Project backed by a $4.3 million grant.
Porte said the village is working with Joe Sova at the Midland County Drain Commission to issue Requests for Qualifications and begin soliciting bids, with a planned project start in spring 2025. The work is intended to address tile drainage issues; Porte said the village will follow grant procurement rules tied to the MEDC CDBG-DR funding.
Council did not take a formal vote on the scope at the Oct. 14 meeting; the discussion was an update on project timing and next steps for hiring consultants and contractors. Officials said they will return to the council with bid packages and procurement recommendations once RFQs are evaluated.
