Rye trails subcommittee agrees to pursue phased trail-closure plan

Subcommittee Chair Glenn Suchocki presented a phased proposal to close selected trails in Rye and to postpone maintenance and improvement work until a second phase, the Trails Subcommittee said at its May 13 meeting at Rye Town Hall.
The proposal, drafted with input from committee members Shawn Joyce and Victor Odryna, calls for Phase I to adopt a trail-closure plan and for that closure plan to be presented to the full Rye Conservation Commission for a vote. According to the subcommittee, Phase I work would be limited strictly to implementing closures; Phase II would cover trail maintenance and improvement and would be submitted to the full commission after the closure phase is completed.
Land Use & Environmental Administrator Kara Campbell was present for the discussion. The subcommittee agreed to bring the closure plan to the full Commission; the record states no other business was raised during the session.
Committee member Shawn Joyce moved to adjourn at 1:08 p.m.; Victor Odryna seconded and the motion carried "all in favor." The meeting had opened at 1:00 p.m. and adjourned at 1:08 p.m. The full Rye Conservation Commission will consider the proposed closure plan at its next meeting for a formal vote.
