Rangely council appoints trustees, clerk, municipal attorney and judge; approves committees

The Rangely Town Council appointed Mrs. Brenda Arenss to a two-year trustee term and appointed Jimmy Dylan to fill another seat, with each to be sworn when they were available. Councilmember Tim Weber moved to appoint Arenss; the motion was seconded and carried. The council also approved several resolutions and committee assignments by voice vote.
Resolutions approved included 20263, appointing Marabel Cox as town clerk and treasurer; 20264, appointing Heather Cannon as the town’s municipal attorney; and 20265, appointing Karen Wils as municipal court judge. Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved on voice votes. The council also reviewed and approved trustee committee assignments for utilities, finance/HR, public safety, the school foundation and the Western Rio Blanco 911 board, and confirmed that assignments may be revised later.
The council administered the oath of office during a second session and swore in the mayor and trustees as required by municipal procedures.
What happens next: appointed officials assume or will assume duties once sworn in; staff will update committee membership lists and publish assignments.
