Sanford council approves insurance renewal, bills and equipment purchases

The Village of Sanford council unanimously approved the renewal of its insurance policy for $15,581 and approved bills totaling $39,142.70 during its Dec. 9 meeting.
Treasurer Travis Raymond presented the monthly financial statements that had been printed and emailed to council members. After review, council voted to approve the submitted bills on a motion by Marcus Thrush and a second by Carl Hamann.
Public works and parks items also drew formal votes. The council approved a $4,578 contract with Lawn Doctor to fertilize baseball diamonds and the surrounding areas; Marcus Thrush moved, Leah Ziems seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Council also approved purchasing a new tractor for $35,000 with a $10,000 trade-in; Carl Hamann moved and Leah Ziems seconded the purchase, and the council voted in favor.
Under council reports, Marcus Thrush said Sanford Youth Sports is wrapping up its football season and starting basketball and wrestling, and Don Whaley reported additional mowing and clearing around Sanford Lake. Council accepted the resignation of Marlene Glinski from the Emergency Medical Advisory Board and appointed Marcus Thrush as the Village representative on that board; both motions were approved by unanimous vote.
