Sanford council approves $48,582.37 in bills and several DPW maintenance contracts

The Village of Sanford on Jan. 13 approved its monthly bills totaling $48,582.37 and authorized several small maintenance contracts for public works projects.
On a motion by Marcus Thrush, seconded by Don Whaley, council approved payment of $48,582.37 in bills. The clerk noted an adjustment to a December payment to Lueter, reducing that check from $15,581 to $15,303, a $278 difference.
The council approved a $1,455.52 bid from Michigan Metal Roofing Coleman to close in trusses at the DPW building so blown-in insulation can be installed. Don Whaley moved to accept the bid; Carl Hamann seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Council also approved adding grub-control treatment to the fertilizing contract for the baseball diamonds at an additional cost of $1,187.50, bringing the village’s portion of the fertilizing work to $5,536.60. Marcus Thrush moved the amendment; Leah Ziems seconded; the vote was unanimous.
Separately, staff said an out-of-service John Deere mower (removed from service in 2023) will be listed for bid on the village Facebook page and website.
