Sanford Board approves Christmas lights, barn lights and DPW pay increases

Marcus Thrush moved to accept a $5,000 quote from Shine of Midland to install downtown Christmas lights; the board recorded that Sanford Shines raised private funds to cover the cost and approved the contract unanimously.
The board also accepted the low bid from Heilig Electric Co. for $1,250 to install exterior lights at the second DPW building (motion by Carl Hamann, seconded by Don Whaley) and approved $0.75 hourly raises for two DPW employees: Danny Dice (to $18.25/hour) and Clyde Huelett (to $15.75/hour) on a motion by Carl Hamann.
DPW Supervisor Matt Hall said he will obtain more information on whether to replace the current tractor; the board did not make a purchase decision during the meeting. The board recorded unanimous approval on the lights, contracts and raises.
