Public works supervisor pushes for chipseal after Rushford Village road tour

He said a core sample taken last fall by Bolton & Menk engineer Derek Olinger has not been retrieved and that the overall surface needs work.
Chiglo disagreed with Bolton & Menk’s assessment that Oakview Loop requires complete reconstruction and recommended a chipseal or double chipseal as sufficient and significantly less expensive. Council members heard both options but did not vote on a course of action during the meeting.
On Gilbertson Road, council members inspected streambank repairs following the June 2024 flood; riprap has been placed to stabilize the bank, and the project received FEMA grant funding. Chiglo also described work at the Vogan/Dunn intersection: he installed a culvert, plans to extend it and to fill and reshape a grassy Y‑split so water will drain properly. Council Member Rick Ruberg asked whether that reshaping would narrow the roadway where semis sometimes park; Chiglo said it would not.
The council took no formal policy votes specific to capital projects at this meeting; the road tour adjourned at 6:44 p.m. and was reported to the council at the regular meeting. Next steps for any specific repairs or surface treatments were left to staff and future agenda consideration.
