Selectboard accepts resignation, records ambulance agreement and approves communications rate increase

Following the budget hearing recess, the Selectboard handled routine town business and several formal actions.
The board accepted the resignation of Selectboard member Steve Russo (resignation dated Jan. 6) by motion with regret; the roll-call vote was 4–0 in favor. The minutes also recorded that on Dec. 31, 2024 a quorum of Selectboard members met with Chief Stewart and signed a 2025 ambulance agreement with the neighboring town of Mason to provide ambulance service for 2025.
Accounts payable was presented and accepted (warrant for $1,784,666.11 and final 2024 warrant of $197,846.59). The board approved an hourly-rate increase for Pepperell Communications Media from $28 to $30 per hour (motion by Brendan Denehy; roll-call vote 4–0). The board agreed to carry a chief’s nonpublic item to the next in-person meeting and later entered three nonpublic sessions; after the closed sessions the board voted to come out of nonpublic and to seal the nonpublic minutes at 10:34 p.m. The board then recessed the public meeting until Jan. 14, 2025.
Selectboard Chair Eddie Arnold instructed staff to prepare a list of boards and committees for which Russo served as the Selectboard representative, and the board said it would accept applications to fill the vacant seat and decide on an appointment at the next meeting. Minutes for approval were held until Monday because one member had missed Fire Ward meetings.
