Anthony Dultz named pro tem president; resident urges better police communication, requests town hall

Anthony Dultz was appointed pro tem president after a roll call and a motion to nominate him was seconded and approved by voice vote.

During the public-comment period, a resident described a miscommunication between the police department and a community group that left no officer available for a previously scheduled meeting and asked the city to "work on communication between different departments and different employees so that things like this don't happen again." That concern was raised in committee later, where staff and Chief Forrester acknowledged the issue and apologized for the breakdown in coordination.

A separate commenter said they felt Mayor Ragland had been "very rude" to them at a prior meeting and urged the mayor to treat all citizens respectfully when interacting with the public. The mayor did not contest the request and the council reiterated that staff could help coordinate notifications so community organizers know whether city representatives will be available.

The clerk read a written correspondence from Tom Endelora requesting that the mayor host an independent town hall for Jamestown residents before Labor Day to restore face-to-face public dialogue; the letter, signed and read into the record as written by Tommy Nardone, asked for a verbal response after being entered in the record.

The council encouraged residents to use available channels for engagement and said staff would work to improve notification and volunteer processes so public meetings and events receive appropriate support.
