Selectboard accepts HOP reimbursement grant; schedules hearing to accept $580,000 MPU award

The Brookline Selectboard voted on Dec. 9 to accept a Housing Opportunities Program (HOP) reimbursement grant and to schedule a public hearing to accept a larger Municipal Per Unit (MPU) award.
Planning Board member Michele Decoteau told the board that the town’s HOP application was funded for $33,672.75 and that those funds are reimbursement-based and must be spent within 18 months. The board voted to accept the HOP grant and authorized the Town Administrator to sign the paperwork by roll call vote, 5–0.
Decoteau also reported that the town received MPU grant funding totaling $580,000. Under the award terms discussed, 80% of that award will go to Tamposi Bros Props LLC and Brookline’s 20% share equals $116,000. The board set a public hearing for Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. to consider accepting the $580,000 and allocating Brookline’s $116,000 share; the board asked impacted departments to submit memos describing how they would use the funds and instructed staff to publish a newspaper notice for the hearing.
No final allocation decisions were made on Dec. 9. The board’s vote to schedule the hearing was unanimous.
