Planning commission accepts Dunkin site plan, schedules July 14 public hearing

At its June 9 meeting the Town of North Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission accepted a site plan application for a Dunkin Donuts to be built on East Main Street and scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for July 14 at 7:00 p.m.

Alan Borghesi of Borghesi Building and Engineering Co. presented the application and told the commission the plan had already received approval from the Inland Wetlands Commission. Borghesi noted a driveway associated with the site would extend over the building setback line and that the driveway is shared with an adjacent property owner.

Commission member Peter Brown moved to accept the application "as presented"; the motion was seconded by Cooper Brown and "motion carried" (the minutes do not record a roll-call tally). Cooper Brown then moved to set a public hearing on the application for the commission's next meeting, July 14 at 7:00 p.m.; Dalton Jacquier seconded and the motion carried.

The commission did not record conditions or amendments in the minutes; the application will proceed to a noticed public hearing where members of the public may comment and the commission may take further action.

Next steps: the commission will hold the public hearing on July 14; any further action (approval with conditions, denial or modification) will be announced after that hearing.
