Old Bridge mayor says parks saw vandalism and arson-related activity; township increases patrols

Mayor Debbie Walker said Old Bridge Township has experienced a recent increase in vandalism and other destructive behavior in its parks, including reports of arson-related activity, illegal dumping, graffiti, damage to park facilities, and hateful messages on playground equipment.
"These actions are disappointing, particularly given the substantial investments being made to improve these public spaces for everyone to enjoy," Walker said, and added, "We are actively working to identify those responsible and hold them accountable."
Walker said the township has increased police patrols throughout the park system and has directed evening and weekend park supervisors to report suspicious activity immediately. She urged residents to report any suspicious activity to the Old Bridge Police Department.
The comments were framed alongside the township’s recent and planned park improvements; Walker stressed that protecting community assets is a shared responsibility and thanked residents for their support.
