Lebanon City Council on June 22 approved multiple budget adjustments to cover operating shortfalls and lease payments across public safety and parks departments.
Following brief staff presentations and public hearings that drew no speakers, the council unanimously approved Resolution 2026-24, an additional $40,000 for Station 11 operating lines to cover fuel and other expenses; Resolution 2026-28, $334,976 to cover SCBA and ladder-213 lease payments the city's 2026 budget had omitted; and Resolution 2026-25, a $210,000 increase for park supplies and repairs including pool chemicals, sanitation and a recent sewage-related repair.
Police Chief Morgan requested two items: a $37,000 general-fund appropriation for vehicle repairs, tires and new equipment related to increased academy agility testing standards, and an additional $40,000 from the LIT (Local Income Tax) line to cover recurring invoices (including a Lexipol contract and CAC billing). Both police requests were approved by voice vote.
Council members made the motions and recorded unanimous "aye" responses at each vote; no roll-call tallies were taken on the floor. The council set no additional conditions on the appropriations. "That is approved," the mayor said after each voice vote.
The appropriations draw on existing funds and reflect corrections and catch-up actions tied to a previously frozen budget year; staff said some lines were intentionally left lean and would be replenished as needed. Several department heads explained that recent employee pay adjustments improved retention but contributed to fiscal pressure this year.
The claims docket was approved and the council adjourned; the next regular meeting is scheduled for July 13, 2026, at 7:15 p.m.
