Board hears Premier Lakes update on algae, compressor noise and Edgewater flooding concerns

At the River Ridge CDD meeting on July 23, Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes reported that lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are generally in good condition but noted seasonal algae growth and removal of a palm near Lake E7A. Kurth said installing a cabinet around the compressor at Masters Lake reduced measured sound levels from 64 to 52 decibels, but Operations Manager Shane Willis told the Board the primary complaint is the aerator’s tone rather than raw decibel levels.

Board members discussed moving the compressor and easement issues; Willis will coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth and return to the Board with findings at the next meeting. Chair Bob Schultz reviewed flooding and erosion concerns in the Edgewater area, recommended piping and additional littoral plantings and said a letter will be sent to the Edgewater Condo Association through Cambridge Management. The consensus was to avoid Canna lilies and to delay planting in Lake E4-A until an agreement is reached with the association; staff will resubmit the planting proposal when appropriate.

Separately, Willis presented the annual quality-assurance audit for lake maintenance and dry retention areas, reporting high water levels but overall compliance and notable improvement under Premier Lakes’ maintenance; the audit will be scheduled earlier next year. No formal action was taken on plantings or compressor relocation at the July 23 meeting.
