Board approves submission for 2024 C Board recognition Level Two
Summary

At the Sept. 9 meeting, the Berlin School District Board voted unanimously to submit an application for the 2024 C Board recognition awards at the Level Two Board of Distinction.
A board member reviewed the C Board criteria and said the district had documented achievements across board leadership, student achievement, board professional development, policy, community relations and organizational leadership. The presentation noted the district exceeded the minimum thresholds in several categories and that supporting documents (minutes, policies) will be compiled and submitted selectively rather than sending all materials.
Melissa moved to approve the application; Jen seconded. The motion carried on a voice vote recorded as 7–0.
Board members expressed pride in recent activities they said helped meet criteria, including retreats, outreach with legislators on reading policy, an April budget town hall and the Board of Ed snapshot distribution. The board asked staff to compile the required documentation and to return with any additional materials needed to finalize the submission.
