Facilities staff described current projects: a seclusion room renovation (door hardware and finishing pending after a flooring delay), central office renovations (lighting and ceiling work complete; new cabinetry vendor engaged), and the final commissioning and site restoration for the Willard HVAC project. Architects are conducting site visits to prepare final designs for upcoming bids on Griswald and other projects.
The FNO committee recommended three priority FY26 projects for immediate Town Council review: McGee science lab renovations, laboratory upgrades to elementary schools, and upgrades to the McGee auditorium. Board members approved the submission by unanimous vote but noted implementation risks including contractor availability and a state grant that currently expires on Dec. 31, 2025. Facilities staff said the district may seek grant-extension relief but flagged the deadline as a potential constraint on starting projects simultaneously.
Next steps include developing conceptual designs and estimates for Town Council submission and referral to the PBC, followed by RFPs and detailed project planning.
