Board picks K‑12 Coalition to lead Moreno Valley strategic plan after three firm interviews

The Moreno Valley Unified School District Board chose K‑12 Coalition as its strategic‑planning partner following presentations from three finalists. K‑12 Coalition emphasized a consortium model that combines practitioner experience, research and a suite of engagement tools; their pitch highlighted community‑level outreach, translated materials, and a plan for implementation and sustained support.

Innovate K12 highlighted technology‑enabled engagement and dashboards, saying it can scale participation and provide continuous implementation dashboards. TNTP emphasized research‑based levers tied to instruction, workforce supports and community engagement. Trustees asked detailed questions about outreach strategies, how the consultants would measure participation, what metrics (KPIs) would be used to track progress and how the firms would support implementation after the plan is approved.

After trustee discussion and a roll‑call vote, the board voted to contract with K‑12 Coalition (5‑1). Trustees who supported K‑12 Coalition cited the firm’s emphasis on community engagement, board and cabinet support, and alignment with district capacity. Trustees who favored Innovate K12 or TNTP praised those firms’ data/dashboards and instructional emphasis; the board’s discussion emphasized that all three finalists offered strengths the district could use.

The board asked the selected firm to provide next steps and suggested pre‑work to gather materials and community contact lists. The district staff said they will arrange an early follow‑up call and provide the board access to candidate materials for review.
