Pembroke outlines highway garage demolition, short utility outage and follow-up planning

The Pembroke Town Board on Feb. 27 said it has begun preparations for demolition of the town’s highway garage and scheduled regular construction meetings as the project moves forward.
Supervisor Thomas Schneider told the board the first construction meeting was held the prior Tuesday and that follow-up meetings will occur every two weeks. He said the highway crew is clearing equipment from the garages to prepare for demolition. National Grid is scheduled to move overhead power lines next Thursday or Friday, and Schneider said power to the building will be shut off for approximately four hours during that work.
Schneider said the board will discuss a plan for water and sewer shutdowns and the effect on other offices at the next meeting, and that they will also address boiler-system sequencing. He noted that some change orders could be forthcoming for a proposed heated floor but that the vendor’s quote so far has come in lower than expected.
Next steps include the board’s planned discussion of utility shutdown timing and contingency plans at the next regular meeting; no formal motions or contract awards on demolition were recorded in the minutes.
