Berlin schools honor students and staff at Nov. 25 awards ceremony

Dozens of students, paraprofessionals and support staff were recognized during the Berlin Board of Education meeting on Nov. 25 as part of American Education Week ceremonies.
Principals from Hubard, Griswald, Willard, McGee and Berlin High School introduced award recipients for the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendent recognition and other honors. Alfred Susa presented Hubard recipients Logan Pelosi and Tessa Brazil; John Campbell presented Griswald recipients including Patrick McCort and Madison Garcia; and Willard and McGee principals presented additional students.
Principals also introduced high-school honorees. The board announced Theodore "TJ" Jones as the 2025 Berlin Teacher of the Year. Jones’s background and professional credentials were read into the record.
Linda Holan, director of pupil personnel services, introduced the district paraprofessional of the year, Amanda Landry (McGee Middle School), and multiple support staff awards were presented to employees across schools, including recognition for long-serving and newly hired staff.
Board chair and administrators praised volunteers and community partners who support school programs, and the evening concluded with a round of applause for all honorees.
