Windsor Locks board adopts state-required School Climate policy to replace bullying policy

Executive Director of Human Resources Robert Stacy told the Board that the Connecticut State Department of Education released a required version of the policy that districts must adopt by the July 1 effective date. Director of STEAM Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Megan Parrette and Assistant Principal Christine Domler summarized key elements and state requirements embedded in the new School Climate policy.
After brief discussion, Board Member A. Osorio moved to waive a second reading and adopt the policy; L. Cutler seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The adoption replaces policy 5131.911 Bullying with the new School Climate policy as required by state guidance.
Board members and administrators said the policy aligns district procedures with state expectations; the Board did not identify further local amendments at the meeting. The Board and district staff indicated they will implement the policy on the July 1 timeline and follow up with any required administrative steps and notifications to staff and families.
