Council approves Halloween events, homecoming tailgate street closure and parcel split

The Pleasantville City Council on Sept. 17 approved several community events and a parcel split by unanimous vote.
By motion of Aaron Hurt with a second from Kyle Patterson, the council approved Trick-or-Treat on Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and authorized closing the streets around the square for the PYI Halloween event. The council also granted a street closure on Washington Street from Monroe to Jackson for an Oct. 3 bank tailgate (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.); City Clerk Rachel Reed said the school had provided a parade-route map and Council member Aaron Hurt asked that the map be posted online.
Engineer Joey Whitehouse told the council that a parcel split application for parcel 1953400500, just over one mile outside city limits to the southeast, met city subdivision standards and did not present future concerns; the council approved the split on a motion by Kyle Patterson, seconded by Rachel Lopez.
Public Works Director Shawn Breazeale also reported erosion matting had been installed on the pond-adjacent lot and seeding completed the prior Friday. Librarian JoEllen Glick announced the library's Burgers & Beats event for the coming Saturday, and Susan Tinder noted an East Elementary Foundation recognition event scheduled Oct. 16 and offered to care for shelter-house plantings this fall.
The council tabled a proposed storm-water repair on E. Monroe pending another contractor review and additional quotes.
