The Plainfield City Council on March 31, 2025, approved several administrative items, including a contract for cemetery maintenance, scheduling for the FY26 budget adoption, and an amendment to the April meeting start time.
The council discussed a proposed mowing agreement for Willow Lawn Cemetery with Turf & Landscape, Inc., of Sumner. The new contract raises the per-mowing fee from $310 to $340. Council Member Clyde Balvanz said the council considered the increase reasonable. Balvanz moved to approve the 2025 Willow Lawn Cemetery mowing agreement at $340 per mowing; Chad Shurtleff seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to approve it.
The council also set the date and time for the Adoption of FY26 Budget & Certification of City Taxes for Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 5:00pm in the Council Chambers, 604 Main Street; the motion was made by Chad Shurtleff and seconded by Jamison Downing and carried unanimously. Separately, the council amended a motion made at the March 11 meeting to change the start time of the regular April Council meeting on April 16 from 6:00pm to 5:00pm; that amendment was approved unanimously (motion by Shurtleff, seconded by Downing).
The meeting opened and concluded with routine agenda actions: the agenda was approved (motion by Joseph Schmall; second by Timothy Neil) and the meeting adjourned at 6:34pm (motion by Clyde Balvanz; second by Jamison Downing).
