Plainfield council approves FY26 budget, sets levy hearing and schedules building and public‑works work

The Plainfield City Council on March 11 adopted the final FY26 budget and took several administrative actions related to permits and public works.

Council voted to approve the final FY26 budget as presented and agreed to move the regular April meeting to Wednesday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. (motion by Jamison Downing, seconded by Joseph Schmall). Council also approved a building permit for 403 3rd Street to construct a 12'x20' wooden patio.

Under department reports, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office noted deputies logged 72 hours and seven calls for service in February. City Clerk Brittney Lentz also informed the council that state legislation establishing a voluntary LOSAP for volunteer firefighters and EMS workers is moving through the Iowa House; this was provided for council awareness only. Council discussed nuisance‑abatement 'yellow tags' and expects another round to be issued in the coming weeks, weather permitting.
