Sherman selectmen approve emergency and operating appropriations for Happy Acres farm, send fence repairs to Town Meeting

The Board of Selectmen on March 26 approved three actions related to Happy Acres farm. Selectman B. Ostrosky moved to authorize an additional appropriation of $10,000, funded from accumulated cell-tower revenue, to cover farm-related maintenance and operating expenses through June 30, 2026; Selectman J. Bruzinski seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The Board also retroactively authorized an appropriation of $6,397.53 from the Happy Acres Farm restricted fund to cover an emergency replacement of a leaking fuel tank on the farm property. That motion, moved by B. Ostrosky and seconded by J. Bruzinski, was approved unanimously.
First Selectman D. Lowe subsequently moved to send a request to Town Meeting to authorize up to $11,000 from the restricted fund for fence repairs to secure perimeter fencing for various pastures at Happy Acres; the motion was seconded by Selectman B. Ostrosky and approved unanimously. The fence-repair item will appear on a future Town Meeting warrant for voter consideration.
Each motion recorded a unanimous vote by the three Board members present. The Board did not change other Happy Acres policies at the meeting.
