The Sherman Commission for the Arts confirmed plans for the Sherman Community Expo on May 2, 2026, and assigned roles and logistics for the event.
Vice Chairperson Linda Hubbard said invitations have gone out with a response deadline of March 19 and that five organizations have already registered to participate: Deer Pond, JCC, The Sentinel, Social Services and Sherman Congregational Church. Hubbard also reported that FISH will not attend this year. Commissioners discussed activities to draw families, including face painting, a possible kids’ skit, and a scavenger hunt.
Christy Bonaiuto created a JotForm registration that commissioners will use to collect participant information; Hubbard said she would send the expo logo to Bonaiuto so the form and printed materials can be updated. MaryJane Magoon offered to supply the tent and to gather giveaway items for a “Sherman basket.” Commissioner Brett Pransky offered a table and prizes to support the scavenger hunt; Recording Secretary Nicole Zegley will run the scavenger hunt. Terri Hahn volunteered to staff the table. Jaime Seymore and Betsy Duckworth were noted as likely to staff the Sherman Artist table and possibly run a “build a bug” activity.
The commission’s next steps are to finalize registrations by the March 19 deadline, confirm the children’s activity schedule and complete signage bearing the new logo. The commission did not record further budget or permit details in the minutes; staff will follow up with logistics as the date approaches.
