Mayor Kristi Seiler opened the Pocahontas City Council meeting on Jan. 5, 2026, and appointed several municipal officers. She named Nicole Harrison mayor pro tem and presented appointments of Alex Leu for police chief and Kyle Hardman for city clerk; the council recorded those appointments during the meeting.
The council also swore in the city’s fire department leadership. Zach Vader was sworn in as fire chief; Brody Vader as assistant chief; Mitch Harrison as captain I; Kolbi Rice as captain II; and James Malacek as lieutenant.
The appointments and swearing-in were handled as part of the meeting’s new-business agenda. The minutes record Laura Holmes remaining involved with the Airport Commission. No dollar amounts or employment contract terms were discussed on the record for the appointed positions.
