The Sierra Vista City Council approved a call to election for the 2026 mayoral, council and general plan questions (Resolution 2026-047) and approved an intergovernmental agreement with Coochis County to administer the election (Resolution 2026-050).
Miss Adams (staff) explained Arizona law requires municipalities to post a call to election and that the ballot language and required public notices will be placed in the Herald. She said pro/con pamphlet arguments will be accepted July 1–July 15 and that the fee to submit pro/con material is $100 to offset pamphlet costs.
On administration, Miss Adams said the city has long used the county to hire poll workers, locate polling places, and provide the technology and security for elections. She said the city’s cost is calculated at $0.75 per registered voter with about 31,000 registered voters in the city, producing an estimated cost of $25,000–$27,000 for this election.
Council approved both resolutions. Staff said the county will continue its longstanding role administering municipal elections and the city will finalize the display advertising and pamphlet logistics.
