Sierra Vista council approves $140.7 million tentative 2026–27 budget

The Sierra Vista City Council on June 26 approved the city’s tentative fiscal year 2026–27 budget proposed at 140,710,916. Jen, the staff presenter, told the council the tentative figure serves as a legal cap and that the final budget could be equal to or less than that amount.
“The city's fiscal year 2026 2027 tentative budget is proposed in the amount of 140,710,916 through council adoption of this resolution and pursuant to state statutes,” Jen said during the staff report. She added that state forms and a summary of changes were included with the resolution.
Council members asked general questions and thanked staff for the work producing the budget book. Staff reminded the council that final adoption of the budget is scheduled for July 23 and that a separate resolution to adopt the property tax levy is set for Aug. 13.
The council approved Resolution 2026-043, advancing the tentative budget to the next step in the adoption process. No detailed vote tallies were read into the record during the meeting.
The city manager and staff said the tentative budget materials and the summary of changes will be available to the public, and council members urged residents to review the documents ahead of the July 23 final adoption vote.
