"The tentative budget has been posted on the city's website," the presenter said, noting no public comments had been received to date and that final adoption is scheduled for July 23 and the property-tax levy resolution for August 13. Staff also described three updates to the airport and the Capital Improvements Fund, two projects carried forward to the next fiscal year and one transfer removed from the CIF.
Council members asked for clarifications about ledger matching and fund-balance reductions tied to additional airport revenue; staff responded that increased airport receipts reduced carryover fund balance to keep the ledger balanced and that many line-item adjustments net to zero across funds.
Why it matters: the tentative number sets the ceiling for next year’s spending and triggers downstream procedural steps (public notice, hearings and the property-tax levy schedule). The council will have the opportunity to revise and lower the final budget at adoption but may not increase it above the tentative figure.
