At its Jan. 15 meeting at the Falmouth Public Library, the Falmouth Commission on Substance Use approved the December meeting minutes by roll-call vote and reviewed its budget and grant timeline. Members voted to continue current open contracts and rolling mini-grants and to defer a solicitation for a large opioid grant until 2027.
The commission recorded a fund balance of $558,000 in the Opioid Settlement Fund after current invoiced and awarded monies, Dennis Lyons (Commission member) reported. Elias Lieberman moved to approve the December minutes and Bryan LeBlanc seconded; named members present voted yes in the roll call. Later in the agenda, Rick Corey moved to adjourn and Bryan LeBlanc seconded; that motion also passed by roll call.
The commission discussed administrative next steps: engaging MOSAIC technical advisors to assist with grant contract management, data correlation and compiling town resources; and soliciting input from consultant Skye Freyss-Cole to guide community engagement and strategic priorities for abatement funds. The Selectboard asked that budget requests and ideas be submitted by the end of March.
No new large grant solicitation will be issued before 2027, but the commission said it will continue to review any larger funding requests that arrive prior to that date and may award rolling mini-grants and manage current contracts in the interim.
