The chair (speaker 2) said the commission received an 18-page Commonwealth of Massachusetts document covering rules and regulations and suggested pulling an operational section that would cover day-to-day matters for slipholders and mooring holders. “There’s a lot of stuff in here… If you looked at it, did anybody look at it?” the chair asked, urging members to peruse the material and consider a condensed package for public distribution.
Members proposed creating a set of targeted packets or a single box at the building department containing the specific application materials for particular needs (slip applications, moorings, building-permit guidance) rather than giving people the entire voluminous document. One member said a condensed “cheat sheet” would make it easier for residents to find applicable rules without digging through the full state regulations.
The commission deferred significant edits until staff and the acting harbormaster return and agreed to revisit the topic at the next meeting.
