At the March 26 meeting Fairgrounds Manager Sterling Murphy asked the board’s permission to submit an additional $75,000 Rural Tourism Asset Grant application to upgrade RV pedestals so the fairgrounds can accommodate camping during large events. Murphy told commissioners the grant requires a 10% local match; 10% of $75,000 is approximately $7,500. Murphy said he has received a letter of support from Brad Ike and is expecting another letter from a commissioner.
Commissioner Scott Miller moved to approve submitting the Rural Tourism Asset Grant application; Commissioner Bill Bullock seconded and the motion carried. The grant will be prepared for submission once the requested letters of support are received.
