Commissioners approve rezoning to create NorthPointe plat for Force Holdings
Summary
On June 8 the Bartholomew County Commissioners approved Ordinance No. 2026-05 to rezone 1.11 acres from I2c to CR to allow platting with adjacent land as part of the NorthPointe Major Subdivision; the Plan Commission had previously approved the preliminary plat (SUB-26-18).

The Bartholomew County Commissioners unanimously approved Ordinance No. 2026-05 on June 8, rezoning 1.11 acres of a 68.25-acre parcel from I2c (Industrial: General with Commitments) to CR (Commercial: Regional) to permit platting with an adjacent 9.73-acre lot owned by Force Holdings, LLC.
Assistant Planning Director Melissa Begley introduced the ordinance on second reading, telling the board the parent parcel contains roughly 68.25 acres (about 38 wooded acres and 29 acres used agriculturally). The specific 1.11-acre request is intended to match the zoning of adjoining property to the east and to allow the new platted parcel to front on US 31 while being accessed from an internal street and a right-in-only access point off US 31. Begley also noted the Plan Commission approved the NorthPointe Major Subdivision Preliminary Plat (SUB-26-18) that would create multiple lots within the broader parcel.
Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop moved to approve the ordinance on second reading; Commissioner Larry S. Kleinhenz seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Why it matters: the rezoning clears a procedural step for platting and future development within the NorthPointe subdivision area and aligns the small parcel’s zoning with adjacent property.
No public comments were offered at the second reading. The county will proceed with platting consistent with the newly adopted zoning designation.
