The Bartholomew County Commissioners on June 8 unanimously awarded Phase II of the 2026 Road Overlay Program, approving contracts that together total $1,484,948.15.
County Engineer Danny Hollander presented the Highway Department's recommendation, which allocates work across multiple rural and subdivision streets. Dave O'Mara Contractor, Inc. was the low bidder on three segments (including Deaver Road and 750 East) totaling $334,160.30; Milestone Contractors, L.P. was low bidder on the remaining county and subdivision streets with a bid total of $1,150,787.85. Hollander outlined the list of routes and subdivision streets to be resurfaced and presented the Phase II total to the board.
The awards were approved after a motion by Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop and a second from Commissioner Larry S. Kleinhenz; the motion passed unanimously. The contracts cover a mix of lane widths and segment lengths and include resurfacing in Forest Lake Estates, Royal View Addition, and Waynesville, as well as county roads such as Deaver Road and 1000 South.
Why it matters: the overlay project funds targeted pavement repairs and resurfacing across multiple parts of Bartholomew County, supporting routine maintenance and preservation of the county road network.
County staff will move forward with contract execution and scheduling of work; the Highway Department's weekly crews also reported concurrent maintenance activities including ditching, sign installation and pothole patching.
The commissioners adjourned after approving the awards. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 15, 2026.
