The Nettle Creek School Corporation board approved claims and payroll and received a review of the district’s monthly financial statements.
The board considered payroll and claims presented for action; the payroll figure shown in the meeting packet was reported as 578,730.42 (formatting in the transcript is inconsistent) and claims were recorded in the packet with typographic errors. Trustees voted to approve the presented claims and payroll.
Board members then reviewed the monthly financial snapshot and cash-flow accounts. Mrs. Shaper highlighted collections data for unpaid tuition: since 2022 the district has $25,500 in unpaid tuition that has been referred to collections. She said the district attempts multiple contacts, notices and offers of minimal payment plans before sending accounts to collections.
Shaper also reported a pause in grant reimbursements while staff and the Indiana Department of Education transition to a new grant portal; she said district staff are working to adapt processes and expected an update at the March meeting. Trustees asked staff to verify some spreadsheet formatting and formula issues that showed negative balances in drafted tables and requested corrected figures for the next packet.
The board took action on personnel items later in the meeting (see separate coverage).
