On signage, staff described a two‑sheet aluminum cabinet sign with a printed graphic (the graphic warranty was described as five years and the physical cabinet warranty as 10 years). Staff said the RFP had been issued to eight vendors, one bid was in hand at the time of the meeting and the submission deadline had been extended to the following day. The procurement sequence is: review of proposals, presentation to the Public Facilities Committee (staff cited a likely Jan. 19 presentation), county council selection of a design, then submittal to SCDOT for encroachment/permitting and final procurement award.
Staff noted that the project will comply with SCDOT guidelines and that once a procurement award is made, physical installation would be quick; the board indicated a target to finish the initial sign before the end of the fiscal year if schedules permit.
The board also discussed related beautification plantings (locations, deer vulnerabilities at Gardens Corner and alternative planting sites) and confirmed staff responsibility to prepare approvals from DOT and county as needed for plantings and installations.
