Bozrah first selectman tells named residents to stop operating unregistered ATVs on town property

First Selectman Glenn Pianka circulated advisory letters dated May 6, 2026 informing named residents that they are prohibited from operating unregistered quad/all-terrain vehicles on town-owned property, including Fields Memorial School, Charles Long Recreational Complex and Maples Farm Park.
The written notices to residents (two letters are included in the meeting attachments) state: “After a protracted period of tolerance, I must inform you that as of this date you are prohibited from operating your quad/all-terrain vehicle on any town-owned property.” The notices say the Bozrah Local Traffic Authority and Board of Selectmen will interface with Connecticut State Police Troop “K,” which will be apprised of the advisory.
Pianka told the board the letters followed numerous complaints from residents and the town’s concern about continued liability exposure if ATV use is not monitored. The meeting materials show letters addressed to Jacob Gawendo and Branton Allen and an email copy of the advisory was circulated to board members and town staff.
No enforcement action or citation was recorded in the meeting minutes; the materials indicate the town expects cooperation and plans to notify state police.
