The New Hartford Board of Education voted unanimously April 14 to adopt a revised $10,497,916 budget for the 2026–27 school year, an increase of $173,240 (1.68%) from the 2025–26 budget, Superintendent Jeffrey Sousa said at a virtual special meeting.
Sousa told the board the Town and the Board share administration of a pension fund and that the revision reflects a net decrease of $32,556 in that pension account. Sousa referenced the budget book (page 46, line 209 under employee benefits) as the source for the pension adjustment.
Vice Chair Kristin Young moved to adopt the budget as revised (document dated April 10, 2026); Penny Miller seconded the motion. The minutes record the vote as unanimous. The meeting roster listed seven board members present (Kristin Young; Thomas Buzzi; Penny Miller; Kirby Morante; Erik Perotti; Jon Puz; Timothy Russell) and two absences (Chair Timothy Klepps and Frank Rodenberg).
There were no public comments on the agenda. Penny Miller moved to adjourn at 5:09 PM; the motion, seconded by Kirby Morante, was recorded as unanimous and the meeting closed shortly thereafter.
