Council hears first reading of Carlisle’s 2025 budget ordinance

City Manager Chris Lohr presented Ordinance 27-24, the proposed 2025 budget for the City of Carlisle, during the Oct. 8 meeting.
Mr. Lohr said the budget before council is the same as the document presented at the recent work session and noted there have been no changes since that work session. He told council members they may propose changes during the second and third readings; the ordinance was scheduled for second reading at the Oct. 22 council meeting.
Councilman Jason Faulkner thanked staff for the budget work and said the budgeting process appears to be improving.
Why it matters: the municipal budget sets appropriations for city operations for calendar year 2025. The first reading begins the formal legislative process; council retains the opportunity to adjust appropriations in subsequent readings before adoption.
No vote to adopt the budget occurred on Oct. 8; the ordinance remains pending further readings.
