Natick audit committee recommends extending CBIZ contract as FY 2024 audit nears completion

The Audit Advisory Committee of the Town of Natick voted Jan. 15, 2026, to recommend extending CBIZs contract for the FY 2025 audit after town staff reported on the status of the FY 2024 audit.
Deputy Town Administrator Ari Sky said the town "expects the final report to be delivered by the end of January 2026" and reported that "CBIZ is ready to open the portal to receive documents for the FY 2025 audit as soon as the contract extension is approved by the Town." He said he would continue to pursue alternatives for audit services despite the limited market and lead time required to onboard a replacement firm.
The committee discussed the trade-offs of extending the current contract versus starting a replacement solicitation. Members said there are "very few options" for a replacement given the late start on the audit and the lead time required to secure another auditor. On a motion by Vice Chair Todd Gillenwater, seconded by Saul Berelowitz, the committee voted 3-0-0 by roll call to recommend extending the contract with CBIZ for FY 2025 and to continue researching alternative audit services.
The committee also approved the Sept. 15, 2025 meeting minutes by unanimous roll-call vote and moved to adjourn; the meeting ended at 12:20 p.m. The recommendation to extend CBIZs contract will go to the appropriate Town decision-makers for final approval.
