Sterling policy subcommittee reviews Title IX, nondiscrimination and discipline policies for full-board consideration

Superintendent Theodore Friend called the Sterling Board of Education Policy Sub-Committee meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the district superintendent’s office. Committee members Dorothy Capobianco and Jennifer Mossner were recorded as present; Christine Chandler attended as board clerk.
Under the agenda item "Review of Current Policies," the subcommittee examined a set of policies and regulations and agreed that each would be brought forward to the full Board for consideration at the November meeting. Items listed for referral included: P4000.1 and 5145.44 and related regulations R4000.1, 4200.1 and 545.44 concerning personnel, students and sexual harassment/Title IX; P0521 on mission, goals, objectives and nondiscrimination policy and notice; P3171.1 on the non-lapsing education fund (non-regional districts); and P5114 and R5114 on student suspension and expulsion/due process.
