The Sterling Board of Education voted Sept. 18 to enter an executive session to discuss SEA contract negotiations and personnel matters and invited Superintendent Theodore Friend and Business Manager Sara Howley to attend.
Victoria Robinson-Lewis moved to enter executive session and John Brady seconded the motion; the minutes record the vote as unanimous and show the executive session ran from 6:15 p.m. to 6:42 p.m. The motion specified the topics as "SEA Contract Negotiations" and "Personnel Matters" and named Mr. Friend and Sara Howley as invitees.
Separately, the personnel section of the minutes lists Victoria Huang as a new hire for middle school social studies. The minutes do not provide additional detail about the hire (start date, full-time/part-time status or salary). The board returned from executive session and subsequently voted to adjourn at 6:43 p.m.
The minutes note that Superintendent Theodore Friend is working with the SEA and that a cooperative agreement with Plainfield is under negotiation.
