COA Housing Subcommittee finalizes report points, reviews strategic-plan goals and readies for Jan. 14 lottery meeting

The Council on Aging Board Housing Subcommittee met Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, by Zoom and closed its session at 1:45 p.m. James Fitzgerald, COA Housing Subcommittee Chair, attended with Linda Jaffee and Paula Panchuk; no members of the public dialed in for comment.
The subcommittee reviewed the status of action items it will present at the Council on Aging board meeting scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026. Members discussed arranging a separate meeting with Donna and her staff to clarify what the COA handles regarding senior housing; scheduling has been difficult because of illness, and the minutes note that Donna is working to reschedule the meeting.
The group reviewed five draft goals for the subcommittee's strategic plan work and agreed the next step is to merge those into a single goal in the format requested by the Strategic Planning Group. The subcommittee resolved to present the consolidated points in summary form to the COA board at the Jan. 12 meeting.
Members also said they will try to attend a Jan. 14 Zoom meeting that will discuss the lottery process for units at the new 62+ apartments on Union Street. The subcommittee did not record any formal votes or motions during the session.
The subcommittee set its next meeting for the Wednesday prior to the COA board meeting on Feb. 9, 2026, and adjourned at 1:45 p.m. The minutes were submitted by James Fitzgerald, COA Housing Subcommittee Chair.
