Olds council posts maintenance job, directs utility fixes and locks in sealcoat price

The Olds City Council on Jan. 14 handled several operational and personnel items, including posting a City Maintenance vacancy, directing utility repairs and locking in a sealcoat price for 2026.
City Clerk Megan Miller reported the City Maintenance position has been posted in the SEIU and the Shopper and around town with a Jan. 29 application deadline. The clerk will solicit mowing quotes from local contractors to evaluate mower maintenance or replacement.
On utilities, Councilmember Tim Faller reported meters were read Dec. 20 and that a water meter leak had been identified; the council calculated adjusted charges and directed Tim Wilson to reissue corrected billing. The council reviewed the monthly DNR sewer report and approved planned repairs to manhole structures at the lagoon.
For street maintenance procurement, Councilmember Jason Waterhouse moved and Jim Rohde seconded a motion to lock in LL Pelling Co.’s 2026 sealcoat price should the city proceed; the motion carried unanimously.
Councilmember Theresa Willey and Mayor Candice Curry will meet with Water/Wastewater Superintendent Tim Wilson for his six-month employment review. The ordinance committee also reported it is organizing suggested changes and will present them at a future meeting.
