Sterling selectmen approve appointments, policies and equipment purchases in Jan. 21 meeting

Among the actions, the board appointed Myron “Jack” Joslyn to a one‑year Chamber of Commerce term, Neil Delmonico and Steven Joslyn to the Economic Development Commission, and Jennifer Jamroz to the Safety Committee. Motions to accept resignations from Sara Sleboda (Economic Development Commission coordinator) and Ashley StJean (Agricultural Commission and Safety Committee) were recorded as accepted with regret.
Financial approvals included a motion to approve monthly invoices totaling $183,692.31 and a motion to forward a CDW‑G quote of $1,579.20 for DPW garage camera system work to the Board of Finance. The board also approved sending a B&H quote of $9,369.38 for year one of the IT Department’s five‑year capital plan to the Board of Finance for approval. All recorded motions carried by 3–0 votes.
The board discussed several items without taking action: a Verogy/Husky Solar proposal for a 202‑acre solar system and substation that Joslyn said would require Planning & Zoning review and likely rental of the acreage; a draft Street Takeover ordinance still under attorney review; and a reported field with more than 50 unregistered vehicles on Porter Pond Road, which will require research on ownership and ordinance applicability because the town lacks its own police force.
Resident Lincoln Cooper proposed a volunteer committee to hold a free community BBQ at the Town Hall gazebo on July 4, 2026, to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary; the board endorsed the proposal.
