Olds council approves bills, awards snow-removal contract and funds Little Library materials

The Olds City Council approved a slate of routine and operational items at its Oct. 8 meeting, including payment of October bills, a snow-removal contract and community program funding.
During the consent agenda the council approved the listed bills and financial receipts for September. The meeting record lists receipts of City Funds $12,105.92, Water Funds $10,469.58 and Sewer Funds $6,363.80 and bill totals of $12,648.85 (Water Fund), $5,993.67 (City Fund) and $2,558.24 (Sewer Fund). Large line items reflected in the Water Fund included an $8,152.20 payment to KP Construction & Hydro Excavating for fire hydrant replacement.
On separate motions the council approved a bid from Jason Unternahrer to provide winter 2025–26 snow removal (motion by Jim Rohde, seconded by Jason Waterhouse; 5-0) and authorized up to $500 to purchase materials and install two Little Library wooden boxes (motion by Sheila Tharp, seconded by Theresa Willey; 5-0). Resident Russ Conrad agreed to help construct the Little Library boxes during winter using city-supplied plans and materials.
Council also approved updates to the Olds Lagoon Emergency Response Plan and Vulnerability Assessment as required every three years by USDA for the sewer loan (motion by Sheila Tharp, seconded by Timothy Breuer; 5-0).
All motions for contracts and purchases were recorded as carried during the Oct. 8 session. The council's next regular meeting is Nov. 12, 2025.
