The Olds City Council approved the first reading of Ordinance 01-2025, "An Ordinance Adopting Code of Ordinances for the City of Olds, Iowa," at its Oct. 8 meeting.
Mayor Candice Curry opened a public hearing on the proposed code at 6:30 p.m. and closed it at 6:41 p.m. after receiving no public comments. Councilmember Jason Waterhouse moved and Councilmember Timothy Breuer seconded the motion for the ordinance's first reading; the motion carried 4-1, with Councilmember Sheila Tharp voting no.
The council appointed a four-person review committee — Tim Wilson, Tim Faller, Mayor Candice Curry and Councilmember Sheila Tharp — to compare the existing code with the proposed text and identify substantive differences. The committee will advise council on any recommended changes before subsequent readings or adoption.
The vote followed routine consent business earlier in the meeting and occurred during the council's regular Oct. 8 session at Olds City Hall. The council is scheduled to meet next on Nov. 12, 2025, where additional action on ordinances or subsequent readings may appear on the agenda.
