Ogden council approves RAGBRAI permit ordinance, waives final reading

Ogden City Council on June 9 approved the second reading of Ordinance No. 288, which adds a new chapter to the city code requiring permits for activities during RAGBRAI, and waived the third and final reading.
The ordinance change passed with four votes in favor and one opposed: Councilmembers Aaron Crane, Dave Ohlson, Brian Reimers and Lori Anderson voted yes; Councilman Denny Good voted no. The vote record in the minutes shows the motion carried following the required second reading.
City staff also noted a vendor meeting for RAGBRAI at noon June 11 at City Hall to coordinate event logistics. The ordinance would require organizers and certain vendors to obtain permits for activities during the event; the council’s action at this meeting advanced the ordinance without a further reading.
The city clerk will publish the ordinance amendment per municipal code and staff will follow up with permitting details for vendors and organizers ahead of the event.
